What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a natural approach to better health, based on the
idea that due to the realtionship of the joints and muscles of the spine
to the function of nervous systems, a healthy spine is fundamental
to good health and well-being.
Chiropractors aim to restore, optimize and then maintain optimal function
and alignment of your spine.
It is very important that your nervous system works properly,
because it controls and coordinates the function of every single
cell in your body.
When the bones of your spine are locked in an abnormal position,
what Chiropractors refer to as a vertebral "subluxation", it compromises
the mechanical and neurological integrity of the spine, and can result in
spinal pain and dysfunction of the nervous system.
The primary focus of chiropractic care is to detect, correct and then
prevent spinal joint dysfunction.
Chiropractors correct subluxations with a technique known as an
adjustment. The adjustment is usually performed by hand (ie. manipulation
or gentle pressure techniques), or by using a special instrument
called an 'Activator. The purpose of the Adjustment is to restore
normal movement to the spinal joint and align the spine.
